Old Cosms

Like the fabled elephant graveyard, this is where Old Cosms go to die. Here you will find the littered corpses of Cosm pages that lived and died from 2005 to 2010

Note: Due technical issues (that Ben Gilliland is too dumb to figure out) the archive ends in 2010. All subsequent Cosms are posted in the 'news' (blog) section. Unfortunately, this means I can't organise them by category, but you can still search for specific subjects in the handily titled 'search' box (in the top(ish) right hand corner – so, if you are looking for space telescopes, enter 'space telescope'... do not enter 'cupcakes' as a search term, you will only be disappointed.

If you want to know how something works, you've come to right place. Here you will find a treasure trove of great stories, illustrated with brilliant graphics that talk you through even the most complicated of scientific ideas.

Can't figure the gallery out? Here's the 'idiots guide' to get the most out of it...

1. Click on the link above to go to a gallery of Old Cosms organised by subject

2. Click on the subject of your choice

3. To view a lightbox display of the Cosms on that page just click on any of the images

4. To see a larger image (one you can read) just click on the name below the image...

... then, to download a high-resolution jpeg (one you can print) or a PDF (this is the highest resolution option) scroll down to bottom of the page where you will see size options (you can click on these to see them on screen and drag and drop it to your desktop, or right-click the link to download).

Just above these are the links to download a PDF – usually called Page1 and Page2 – (it will do this automatically when you click on it)
